At the end of December last year, the Free Student Exchange Program (PMM) bid farewell to their study period at their exchange campuses. This includes those who experienced learning at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). The release and closing ceremony of PMM Batch 3 took place on December 30, 2023. A unique aspect of the event was that 220 exchange students from various regions of Indonesia attended wearing traditional attire.

The UMM Rector expressed massive appreciation for the cultural festival, which has become a routine agenda for exchange students across Indonesia. According to him, this serves as a way to introduce cultures and a platform to strengthen relationships among different ethnicities, races, and religions.

"Indonesia was formed based on diversity. This diversity forms the motto 'Bhineka Tunggal Ika' or 'Unity in Diversity.' This is a vision and mission that every individual in PMM Batch 3 must uphold. These differences make us one and socialize with each other," he added.

Furthermore, exchange students didn't just learn subjects according to their majors. Beyond that, PMM students studying at UMM also learned about cultures, beliefs, and customs from each region they visited to promote diversity in community socializing.

He also conveyed that the cultural festival provided a space to articulate identity, symbolized by their respective traditional attire. The UMM academic community proudly bids farewell and expresses appreciation to the PMM students for returning to their hometowns and implementing what they have gained at this White Campus.
