University Ranking (UniRank) has released its latest ranking results, the July 2022 edition. In these results, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) managed to maintain an international reputation with various efforts to develop global human resources. Previously, in 2021, UMM White Campus also worked to become the world's number one Best Islamic Campus.
So far, UMM has also received international recognitions from institutions such as AUN-QA, IABEE, Asean Energy Awards, QS Stars, and others. Even with thousands of national and international cooperation.
The Rector of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., considers that all recognition at the regional and international levels is significant for a university. Moreover, many aspects are rated and recognized as suitable by the rating agency. "This achievement is also a sign of public trust in institutions, in this case, the UMM White Campus," he added.

Even so, according to him, recognition is not enough for universities. Another thing that needs to be pursued is the development of human resources (HR) who have independence and qualified skills. "So universities should not be careless. Not only relying on recognition alone but also must always strive to improve human resources towards a more advanced Indonesian nation, "said Fauzan.
The form of UMM's efforts in improving human resources as well as translating the concept of the Merdeka Campus is by opening schools of expertise and Centers of Excellence (CoE). The business world and the industrial world (DUDI), which so far are still lacking. This effort also prepares the 2045 golden Indonesian generation, which aligns with UMM's CoE program. White Campus is also committed to ensuring that students graduate on time with guaranteed job opportunities and independence for graduates.
In this edition, the UMM White Campus in Malang also managed to occupy the number six best private campus in Indonesia, according to UniRank's version. UMM was also perched in the 23rd position in the ranks of state and private universities throughout Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Assistant Chancellor for International Accreditation and Ranking of UMM Drs. Suparto, M.Pd., considered that the ranking of UMM White Campus in this edition had increased compared to the previous one. It cannot be separated from the increase in various sectors, especially the campus website.
In more detail, Suparto describes the five tools used by UniRank in conducting assessments. The first indicator is Moz Domain Authority, which assesses search domains. Then the second is to measure the performance of campus sites based on their visitors using the Alexa Global Rank. It is one of the main focuses of UniRank's ranking.

Third, explicitly assessing what sites still have relations with related websites, in this case, the university website. UniRank uses the SimilarWeb Global Rank tool. Fourth, using Majestic Referring Domains measures the quality of backlinks, whether in URLs, webpages, or an assessment of the number of links.
"The last tool is Majestic Trust Flow. The use of this service can measure comparisons between websites. According to UniRank, this component determines the threshold of public trust that can be measured from the website domain. Even with web development through relevant topics," he added.
Suparto added that this achievement is not the end. There need to be improvements in the sectors that are still lacking. That way, UMM can continue to rise and become a university with a qualified international reputation. Not only in the UniRank version but also other college ranking versions. (cdr/*wil)
