Revitalizing and strengthening the national character is a significant thing that the Indonesian people must pursue. Interestingly, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has answered this with various programs implemented, such as the Profesor Penggerak Pembangunan Masyarakat (Trans: Professor of Community Development Drivers) and the Center of Excellence (CoE). This was conveyed by Ketua Dewan Pertimbangan Presiden (Wantimpres) (Trans: the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council ), The General TNI (Ret.) Dr. H. Wiranto, SH, SIP, MM, during his visit to UMM, June 26, 2023.

Wiranto continued he and his team wanted to listen to the voices and input from the campus. They were looking for ideas, problems, and lessons. According to Wiranto, in building the nation and achieving the goal of a golden Indonesia in 2045, unity, tolerance, and collaboration are needed from all country elements.

"One important aspect is the utilization of the demographic bonus as a way to reach Indonesia 2045. Today, the winner is not determined by who is the strongest and biggest, but who is the fastest. Especially those who adopt science and technology the fastest," he said.

Wiranto assessed that the demographic bonus should be used to the best of its ability. If it is not worked on properly, the number of unemployed people will increase and burden the democracy. "I think the roadmap to Indonesia's advancement has been realized through what UMM is currently doing. There will certainly be points of proposals that become our material to provide policy input to the president," he explained.

During the visit, Wiranto is not alone. He was accompanied by members of Dr. H. Soekarwo, S.H., M.Hum., Putri Kuswisnu Wardani, M.B.A., and Dr. (HC) dr. H. R. Agung Laksono. One of the exciting things was conveyed by Putri. According to her, a developed country can increase due to the synergy of government, academia, and the business sector. Indonesia should be able to do the same.

Putri also appreciated CoE, which can fill the needs of future education. Young people not only learn in the classroom but can directly learn in the industry. Ultimately, they can become ready-made human resources and open up jobs. This can be a good example and attention for other universities.

Soekarwo and Agung explained the same thing. According to Soekarwo, there are many problems that Indonesia must work on immediately, including those related to technology. He mentioned digital challenges such as using artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things. The challenge of community development is also waiting to be worked on.

"I think the development of agriculture and organic fertilizer by UMM is very appropriate. Moreover, fertilizer prices have also risen and burdened farmers," he said.

Meanwhile, UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., explained the genuine efforts of the White campus to build the nation. Two of its major programs are CoEs that solve the problems of Indonesian state's problems by accelerating and strengthening the link and match between universities and industry. UMM provides competencies following the world of work so that graduates can compete optimally.

Likewise, the Profesor Penggerak Masyarakat program improves the community's economy. For example, organic farming has been promoted in recent years in Bondowoso. A similar program was also implemented in Jember, along with the development of the energy sector. " We are also reconstructing one of the world's cultural heritages, Subak, which is located in Bali," he concluded. (Put/Wil)
