Armed with his experience as an organization at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Wirayuda Damar Wicaksono managed to get the opportunity to participate in the 2022 Garuda Nusa Youth Summit. This program has a mission to carry out conferences and community service in three countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. The event was held at the end of last October.
Yuda, as he is familiarly called, has been active in various organizations provided by UMM. According to him, UMM White Campus allows its students to join multiple organizations in all fields. He even became the head of the village development coordinator for the UMM Student Executive Board (BEM). From that experience, he made a significant contribution to the program. Moreover, the Garuda Nusa Youth Summit focuses on volunteering, service, and conference aspects.
"Seeing the opportunity for service in the 3T area (underdeveloped, outermost, and frontier), I became excited to participate in spreading my knowledge and experience in the field of community service," said the student of the Agrotechnology study program.
He said the most memorable experience was during a conference that discussed issues at the Indonesian border and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Not only with Indonesian students but also with Sarawak students and the staff of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI).
"When I was in the community service village, I took part in environmental education by giving directions regarding processing domestic organic waste into organic compost. I give counseling and practice with the residents," he explained.

"Many of my experiences at UMM were applied to the program, the science of composting, and organizational management. While in this program, I gained a lot of knowledge in the form of international conference systems, sustainable development goals, and the Indonesian human development index. Of course, I will share everything with UMM students," he concluded. (cdr/ros/wil)
