VIVAnews - North Korea decided to postpone the long-range rocket launch until December 29, 2012. That was done because of a technical problem in the engine module.
At first they announced the launch of a rocket in the period 10 to December 22 to coincide with the first anniversary of the death of former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.
However, according to state media KCNA report quoted by the BBC, Monday, December 10, 2012, North Korea set the launch period was extended until December 29.
According to a spokesman for the Space Technology Committee of North Korea, the scientists found a technical problem in the rocket engine module to be launched. Even so, he did not elaborate in detail the technical issues.
United States, Japan and South Korea considers North Korea's rocket launch as a test to develop a ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
But North Korea denies. Launching rockets is part peaceful mission to put a satellite in orbit. It seeks to launch a rocket in April 2012 but failed after the rocket broke out shortly after launch.
North Korea has so far not managed to do three-stage rocket launch despite having tried four times since 1998.
