Obama Supports Israeli Aggression on Gaza, but Regrets Fall Victim Soul

Washington - President of the United States (U.S.), Barack Obama regrets the loss of life on military action in Gaza. However, he also reiterated U.S. support for Israel.

It is delivered after Obama spoke by telephone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday (16/11) local time. Talks are both focused on the conflict in the Gaza Strip that re-heated.

"The president reaffirmed U.S. support for Israel's right to defend itself, and also expressed deep regret over the loss of life of both Palestinian and Israeli civilians," the White House said in a statement as reported by AFP on Saturday (11/17/2012).

PM Netanyahu who initiated the call, expressed deep appreciation on U.S. investments for Iron Dome rocket and mortar defense system. According to Netanyahu, the weapons are effective against rockets fired by Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip.

"Effective against hundreds of rockets fired from Gaza and managed to save many lives of Israelis," said the statement, citing Netanyahu.

However, the White House statement did not give further details about the plans of both countries. Just mentioning that, the two leaders also discussed about the ways to minimize conflict.

So far, the conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza have killed at least 30 people. Most of the dead were civilians.

According to Israel, rockets fired by militants in Gaza were targeted in two major cities of Israel, the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, on Friday (16/11) is intended to destroy the commercial and political center of Israel.
