There is always a way for those who want to try and a hope for those who pray, as said by Luthfin ‘Abidah, one of the Animal Husbandry Department alumni of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The woman known as Luthfin is currently pursuing her career as the Calves Management and Farm Hand in one of dairy cattle companies in Australia: Inionba Pastoral Pty, Ltd.
“I could have the chance to work in Australia because I was involved in one of the Australian media in March 2022. From that experience, one of the companies was interested in me. Then, it offered me an opportunity to work. After passing the interview selection, I departed to Australia in the same year,” Luthfin explained.
She also adds that her background as an animal husbandry student of UMM becomes one of things that make her be accepted and funded by the company, so is her international experience activity she followed whilst in the White Campus.
Luthfin gains new experiences while working for 6 months. She and her team must take care of 3000 cows in the farm. It consists of cow treating, feeding, health checking, and milking. She does all well and optimally.
In her view, being a farmer can enable her to train how to think and behave to be a better person. “Both male and female workers in my workplace are treated equally without discrimination. It automatically makes me improve my ability in many things whether I like it or not. It is interesting and nerve-wrecking, yet I enjoy it a lot,” Luthfin expressed.
The Ponorogo woman says that UMM plays a vital role in her today’s success. She feels lucky to be studying in the White Campus, which has an international atmosphere, so its students can have a chance to collaborate with international parties.
“Starting from the third semester, I already actively interned in four different places, including in Australia. It is also because of the support of my department and university,” Luthfin stated.
Further, she explains that a language is the door of all knowledge. Additionally, if intending to pursue a career abroad, someone must master problem-solving, leadership, speaking, and listening skills. Luthfin encourages Indonesian youth not to be bored at learning and participating in international programs. Then, their insight can increase, so can their friendship network.
“When being able to master various languages, it is the time where the world is in our hands. We can achieve the rest by trying different experiences. UMM provides a full package of experience for our mind and soul. Maximize it as much as you can, I am waiting for your shine,” Luthvin advised the students. (imh/zak/wil)
