Speaking English in communication is essential in entering the global world. Learning English is also not enough, if only through learning materials in the classroom. But must practice directly. Therefore, the American Corner (AmCor) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) came to schools and provided motivation. This time the Amcor team came to visit the daughter of Ar-Rohmah at the end of last August.

Interestingly, the UMM AmCor team came not only with Indonesian students but also with international students who shared their knowledge. Mainly about English. One of AmCor's senior volunteers, Emeralda Narulita Halim, emphasized participants to be confident and not ashamed to speak English. It's okay, even though the way he talks is still not good. "Everything requires a process. The courage to speak English can make friends even better. Continue to train and practice with other friends," she said.

In addition, AmCor also cooperated with an international student from UMM from Tanzania, Francis Raphael Sendalo. He gave the participants time to talk to him as a process of learning English. Francis also shared easy tips for learning foreign languages and his international experiences with officials from Tanzania and other African countries.

Director of AmCor UMMRia Arista Asih, P.hD., feels happy that his team can share knowledge at Ar-Rohmah Putri. According to him, activities like this are perfect for improving the skills of young people. Moreover, English is an international language that helps them in the next stage of life. “Tak perlu malu meski bahasa Inggris dan aksesnya masih kurang. Saya yakin selama teman-teman terus berlatih, sedikit demi sedikit skill bahasa Inggris kalian akan menjadi lebih bagus. Kami juga menyediakan berbagai program yang bisa diikuti oleh mahasiswa maupun kalangan umum,” tambahnya.

"There is no need to be ashamed even though English and access are still lacking. I'm sure as long as you keep practicing, little by little, your English skills will get better. We also provide various programs that students and the general public can follow," he added.

On the other hand, the coach of English Club Ar-Rohmah, Laili Isna Nur Cahyani, thanked AmCor UMM for her visit. It wants to improve and develop students' language skills. In addition, public speaking skills are also a means of da'wah, not only in Indonesian but also in English.

"Before, it was quite difficult for us to get quality speakers. Alhamdulillah, UMM AmCor came together with quality speakers. Even bringing international students to share knowledge. We hope this collaboration can continue and we can visit there directly," said Laili. (cdr/zak/wil)
