| Statistical Corner of UMM Achieves National Runner-Up Title (Photo : Special) |
Exciting news comes from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) once again. This time, the Statistical Corner of UMM has secured the runner-up position at the national level. The Statistical Corner is directly supervised by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Batu City. The award was presented during the National Statistics Day event on September 26 in Jakarta.
Hendra Kusuma, the coordinator of the Statistical Corner at UMM, explained that the event organized by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Indonesia aims to appreciate educational institutions and organizations that have contributed to the development of literacy and statistical services in Indonesia.

This achievement marks the best performance ever for his team. The Statistical Corner at UMM has been established since 2022, playing a role in bridging the gap between the government and various sectors that utilize data. This includes assisting students conducting research or government officials developing policies. The core function of the Statistical Corner is to provide additional education for data users about how to obtain and utilize data, he explained.
Currently, the distribution of Statistical Corners across Indonesia has reached 130. This is exciting news for the management of the Statistical Corner at UMM, especially since they have achieved the second position nationwide. Last year, they also brought home the third-place award in the national ranking.
The Statistical Corner of UMM has implemented various innovations in statistics and active engagement, including creating 359 infographics, producing 79 video graphics, and conducting 36 educational sessions for the community. The large number of infographics stems from data collection activities carried out by students in Batu City. Therefore, he emphasized the crucial role of students in advancing the Statistical Corner at UMM.

“We have also collaborated with the Batu City Government and the Ministry of Villages to conduct investment census studies in villages. This positions UMM as the only university with data at the village level, especially concerning investment figures in the context of villages and urban areas in Batu City,” he stated.
In conclusion, he hopes that the Statistical Corner at UMM will continue to be utilized by various parties, including other programs and faculties within the campus. He believes the Statistical Corner is rich in diverse data, ranging from health and legal data to information related to agricultural census surveys in Indonesia.
