Raising a Mission to Develop Students, The Vice Rector III of UMM Becomes the Secretary General of the Student Leader Forum

Forpimawa (Student Leader Forum) is one of the university student forums throughout Indonesia, which bridges university leadership and the Ministry of Education and Culture. Dr Nur Subeki, S. T., M. T., the Vice Rector III of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang in Student Affairs, delivered the idea. He was elected as the Secretary General of the Student Leader Forum this December in the plenary meeting of the chairman and secretary election at the University of Lambung Mangkurat, Banjarmasin, South Borneo.

Eki said that the Forpimawa is a partnership mediator of a university and a ministry affair, including scholarship matters. Besides, it also focuses on establishing partnerships with the governments and the National Achievement Centre in various university student competitions.

He explained that this forum contributes to determining the college ranking system, which collaborates with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The ranking system is considered to develop the university team’s spirit to be creative and innovative. This system can also create a big considered university assistance scheme for a developing deemed university.

“Through this ranking system, we expect to create a university assistance scheme among universities in the future. This will balance the education quality in universities in Indonesia,” Eki stated.

This lecturer of mechanical engineering major said that Forpimawa must naturally and constantly elevate a scholarship partnership, both with the governments and private affairs. In his view, if the partnership successfully increases, so does students’ enthusiasm to continue studying.

“Of course, we want the number of young people, especially students who intend to continue their education to a bachelor’s degree, to increase. One is by providing scholarships, we will try to establish partnerships with various parties,” he expressed.

At the end of the interview, Eki expects this forum to be a place of synergy between universities and governments to create better education quality. One is through the internal synergy of Forpimawa so that this student forum can align with student development. (imh/haq/wil)
