Average grades in college are not the determinant factor for success. It was conveyed by the President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, to thousands of graduates of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on December 19. Furthermore, Irfan shared that it took him 13 semesters to complete and achieve his informatics degree. The grades he got were also only average. "The long college years and always stuck average grades made me get a stereotype that I would not be able to become a big person. However, I can prove it by becoming the CEO of PT Garuda Indonesia," he said.
He admits that he has never been shy about dreaming high. Being underestimated and always discouraged by his surroundings helps him to realize his dreams. According to him, the long process should be appreciated because he can feel the meaning of a natural process from it.
Furthermore, from his dreams, he dares to take on challenges that test him. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he made various risky decisions for Garuda Airlines until it got through the crisis well.
" Although I felt burnt out and stressed, I tried to think positively and find a way out. I always believed the problem could be resolved even if it took longer. At that time, I made the restructuring decision based on many things. Thanks to my family's support, I was able to prove that under my leadership, Garuda Indonesia could be saved," he says proudly.

" You must dare to get out of your comfort zone and understand every process of life. Then you can make yourself into a great person. Taking a degree is a big responsibility for yourself, so let's raise your spirits and create a greater generation than the great people you see today.
