The Director of PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER), Silvester Budi Agung, gave a speech at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on February 29th. This was also UMM's way of inspiring its graduates before they enter the workforce.
"Currently, Indonesia is still a developing country. Many efforts are being made to realize Indonesia's golden age in 2045. Meanwhile, Indonesia's economy is the second largest in Southeast Asia thanks to many industries and investors," explained PT SIER Director Silvester Budi Agung.

According to him, developing new strategies is one way to achieve Indonesia's Golden Age in 2045. For example, there is strategies in terms of business management and others. This includes making industrial areas greener, more modern, and more integrated. Budi explained that renewable energy is becoming one of the important focuses, especially considering the depletion of natural resources. Therefore, investment is needed in this field, both in terms of equipment and human resources (HR).
Therefore, UMM graduates must be able to meet the needs of these HR. So that the mission of Indonesia's Golden Age in 2045 can be achieved properly. Especially considering that UMM also has a Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) that has been established for a long time.
Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PWM) of East Java Dr. Syamsudin, M.Ag. also gave some advice. According to him, Indonesia has opened many businesses but lacks understanding of how to manage them, especially in the food sector. With the programs at UMM, namely the Center of Excellence (CoE), graduates are encouraged to have the right skills for the right companies.
"I believe that these programs will shape the students who are ready to work. This CoE can also be developed in other fields, especially those that are unique and interesting," he said.

On the other hand, UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, M.Si., emphasized that a bachelor's degree holder has a great responsibility. Namely, to implement the knowledge gained in various lectures. Especially, considering that UMM always produces intelligent and morally upright generations. This is inseparable from the efforts of the White Campus in equipping various skills and abilities, including the P2KK program.
"Various programs have been provided to students to create brilliant and globally minded generations. The graduation process is an important milestone for students' journey. Hopefully, you can advance and benefit society," he concluded.(ri/wil/fajr)
