The issue of corruption in Indonesia has always been a trending topic due to the many cases that are often found in Indonesia. Responding to this concern, Moh. Wahyu Kurniawan, S.Pd., M.Pd., as a lecturer in Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan (PKN) (trans: Civic Education) at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), provides an explanation. According to him, anti-corruption awareness needs to be conducted, especially in the educational environment. It is expected to build the characteristics of future leaders.
Wahyu, a counselor at the Anti-Corruption Commission, said that education is one of the most important methods. Some of his responsibilities are providing knowledge and understanding about the impact of corruption, as well as encouraging people to avoid the corruption crime. The education was provided to all groups, including the youth.

UMM has a curriculum that focuses on anti-corruption, which is implemented in the educational study programs. According to him, the curriculum can be developed and can be taught to students in other study programs and even to students in schools. "Corruption must be fought together and become our responsibility," he said.
Furthermore, Wahyu said that a lifestyle of hedonism and greed is one of the factors of corruption. Therefore, the solution is to create a sense of fear for the perpetrators in order to discourage them. He sees that it is an irony that the rights that should be enjoyed by the children and the community in need are instead misused by certain individuals.
Regarding gratification, he explained that gratification has two types, which are positive and negative. The meaning of positive gratification is giving something to someone, especially a public officer, without any expectations. On the other hand, negative gratification is giving something because there are certain intentions and purposes. As explained in the Anti-Corruption Law number 20 of 2001 concerning corruption, which has regulated and discussed the elements of acts classified as corruption.
Therefore, he considers that the issue of crime is a common homework to eliminate. It can start from small things, such as the way of teaching a child who should be honest and disciplined. It will affect the character building of the child who is good and obedient in the future. "Assessing the leadership of a character of a child must use a habitual program through educational institutions. Let's take, for example, what Ki Hajar Dewantara has taught. These are all values to stay away from corrupt behavior, and the method starts from family, school, and society," he added. (Zaf/Wil/Put)
