Although it has not been established for less than a year, the Statistics Corner of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has successfully gained achievements at the national level. Based on its contribution and activeness, the UMM Statistics Corner received a prestigious award from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Nasional (trans: National Statistics Agency) on December 4th, 2023. UMM Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. in Jakarta, directly received the award.
The UMM Statistics Corner Team, Muhammad Sri Wahyudi Suliswanto, SE., ME., explained that several categories were included in the competition. The White Campus UMM gave a good impression and beat all 108 statistical corners throughout Indonesia. They are due to various events, activities and student involvement in each process.
"We are actively involved in surveys and disseminating the results. The students collected various data and then made into posters. Finally, we uploaded it on the statistics corner web. We are also very proud to realize that although the UMM statistics corner has not been established for a year, its work has been appreciated," he added.

Yudi, as he is often called, continued that the statistical corner activity was inspired by the Center of Excellence (CoE) system that UMM has been running. Students are distributed and asked to be active in BPS and surveys. One of the surveys is related to the potential of village funds to provide recommendations on the potential products that can be developed in related villages. This activity is also an embryo for establishing a new CoE in the Economic Development study program.
"Among the interesting potentials of the village is the potential for orchid cultivation in one of the villages in Batu City. It can be further developed through product development training to the marketing process," he said.
Finally, the Economic Development lecturer hopes that the UMM Statistics Corner can continue to receive more achievements next year. Especially with its commitment to optimizing one data and integrated programs. As well as its range of reach, which is increasingly going out to various other regions.
