Happy news colored the 111th graduation ceremony of Muhammadiyah University Malang (UMM) on December 19, 2023. Amira Syafana, a graduate of the Elementary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD), emerged as one of the outstanding graduates. Interestingly, she has a plethora of achievements, including being the best announcer in podcasts, the 2nd runner-up of the 2023 East Java Education Princess, an internship at an autism therapy centre, creating a curriculum for children with special needs, publishing eight books, and obtaining a scholarship from East Kalimantan.
It took a long time for Amira to achieve all this. Since she was a freshman, she has had the ambition to succeed in college. However, she had to alter all her plans due to the COVID-19 pandemic that struck at the end of 2019. In 2021, she began to rise and attempted to establish the Teacher for Charity program. The establishment of this program was based on humanitarian values and her desire to advance children's education.

The program she independently runs has been running for almost three years and will continue to strive to advance Indonesian children's education. This program has been implemented in East Kalimantan, East Java, and will soon be expanded to Central Java. The program distributes books and conducts joyful and meaningful learning sessions on general education and sex education.
The graduate with a perfect GPA of 4.00 stated that the funds used to create the Teacher for Charity program were obtained from the East Kalimantan Tuntas scholarship. Not only that program, but she also underwent an internship at an autism therapy centre, where she was equipped with methods to educate children with special needs to play and recognize their social environment.
From the program she initiated in 2021, she achieved the title of 2nd runner-up for East Java's Education Ambassador. Not stopping there, she was also appointed to represent East Java in the Indonesian Literacy Princess event scheduled for February 2024.
She admitted that she is happy and never tires of participating in and carrying out various activities. "There is always a feeling of exhaustion. But it all depends on how we manage our time and ourselves so that all activities can run smoothly," she said.

She also shared tips on managing time well and prioritizing her education over external activities she participates in. She would complete assignments given by professors or attend lectures before engaging in activities or hobbies she enjoys.
This student, focusing on education, hopes to improve Indonesia's education system. Moreover, many Indonesian children still need general and more adequate education, especially in remote and underprivileged areas.
"Therefore, in seeking knowledge, fellow students should not only aim for titles. Instead, try to step out of your comfort zone and provide greater benefits to various communities," she concluded.". (tri/wil/fajr)
