The second-period candidates of fresh students, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) are skyrocketing. Based on last update, a day before admission closing, Friday (7/8), Student Admission Unit (UPT PMB) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) notes more than 12.000 candidates have signed up via online, and approximately 9.000 of them have already been registered.
Head of UPT PMB UMM Dr. Ermanu Azizulhakim, M.T stated that this skyrocketing admission made the committee limit the online registration. Today, Saturday (8/8), for those willing to register, there is an on-spot registration provided in Admission Office.
“Intentionally, we close the online registration at Friday 3.00 pm to restrict the overload. Besides, no bank is opened on Saturday. If you wish to apply, feel free to come into Admission Office right away,” said Ermanu.
Due to this skyrocketing admission, the committee has to provide additional locations to accommodate them in later exam, on Monday (10/8). All rooms in Campus III have been fully occupied, starting from Lecture Building I, II, and III, Hall, Theater room in UMM Dome, and every single meeting courts.
Besides Campus III, all rooms in Campus I and II have also occupied. Indeed, all business units have been utilized, such as Student Dormitory and conference hall in UMM Inn. Accordingly, UMM should lease classrooms in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs), Madrasah Aliyah (MA), and Vocational High School (SMK) of Muhammadiyah Tlogomas. Ermanu also reminds surroundings that on Monday, there is a possibility of excessive gridlock due to this admission test. Furthermore, the candidates tend to come along with parents. “Thereby, we try to manage everything very well, starting from stability, monitoring, and parking lot provision,” informed him.
Regarding this excessive number of candidates, he demands the university to reconsider the third admission. “I hope there will be no third admission, unless for particular departments.”
Propositionally, third admission will be opened from August 14th to 29th, 2015. However, considering the massive amount of candidates in both first and second admission. Eventually, the third admission will be considerably opened after the post-coordination in second period. (han/t_stu)
