The Covid-19 outbreak brought many changes to the world order. Behind the lockdown situation, there were many positive changes. From technological advances and ways of thinking to the rapid spread of information. "These changes are now a new habit that cannot be denied," said M. Adnan Fatron, Founder and CEO of Mudif Consulting, in the Electrical Engineering Guest Lecture at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on November 4th.

The event titled "Tips for Success Without Disrupting Graduating College on Time" aims to prepare students for a mature career plan. Adnan said, based on the McKinsey Global Institute study in 2017, that tens of millions of Americans and Germans have the potential to become unemployed in 2030. This is due to rapid technological changes and shifting human jobs.

It also makes Indonesian people unproductive and only rely on technology. According to Kemenristek-dikti research data, 80% of Indonesians need to do something productive. As many as 600,000 graduates become unemployed who need the right skills. This is because many Indonesian graduates only have average abilities.

According to him, the cause of a person's failure is the standards created in society. Moreover, people always compare their success with others, thus making a general standard of success in the community: wealth, position, knowledge, and being liked by others.

People also worry that their jobs will be replaced by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Artificial intelligence or AI should collaborate with humans, which can create new jobs that are undoubtedly useful. "Humans will not be replaced by artificial intelligence, but by other humans who can use artificial intelligence," he added.

Meanwhile, Prof. Ir. Ilyas Masudin, MLogSCM, PhD, the dean of the Faculty of Engineering, said that students need to plan for what they want. It will help them to prepare what is necessary in the work world to avoid eroding by technology. UMM has also prepared this through the Center of Excellent (CoE) program to prepare its students for a higher career level.

Furthermore, he said that the event should not only focus on the concentration of the majors they take but also provide students with skills that can be honed according to their interests. "Therefore, I believe this event can open up students' insights about the world of work. I think a good job is to provide jobs for others," he said. (put/*tri/wil)
