Academic Community of UMM was Unified to Ward The Covid-19 Concerns

The University of Muhammadiyah Malang Hospital (UMM Hospital) held socialization about Spreading, Preventing, and Handling the Covid-19 at 9th-floor hall of GKB IV, Wednesday (11/3) noon. The director of UMM Hospital, Prof. Dr. dr. Djoni Djunaedi, Sp.PD-KPTI and Pathologist of UMM Hospital, dr. Ungky Agus Setiawan, Sp.P(K) became the presenters on that agenda.

Deputy Rector II Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, M.Sc in his welcoming speech said that UMM had long ago launched the concept of Management of Public Health which was applied in the Green and Clean Campus jargon. Thus, UMM has spelled out management practices that seemed talkative. So that we were ready for any crisis.

“I am happy, (being in this socialization agenda) we were woken up about the proposal applied to the concept of Green and Clean Campus which was multi-dimensional. Besides managing the building and the terrain, it is also determined by the preparation of the people to face the crisis, such as Covid-19,” continued Nazaruddin.

Nazaruddin then asked the participants to understand about Management Public health an interdisciplinary study. “We do hope the academic community keeps on demonstrating the healthy lifestyle, anticipating and building the strong institutions and giving little possibilities to crisis happens, like the Covid-19 spreading,” firmed Nazaruddin.

In his explanation in front of the academic community of UMM, the spreading of UMM Hospital Prof. Dr. dr. Djoni Djunaedi, Sp. PD-KPTI about the origin of the formation of Covid-19, how Covid-19 contagious, prevention, and all the handles that can be done. dr. Djoni further emphasized the importance of Healthy and Clean Behavior (PHBS) for the academic community of UMM.

Citing from American immunologist. Anthony Stephen Fauci, he mentioned that the Covid-19 outbreak was a real reminder of the challenges that were emerging from the re-emergence of infectious pathogens and the need for constant surveillance, rapid diagnosis, and strong research to understand the basic biology of new organisms and their prevention.

In the time being, dr. Ungky Agus Setiawan, Sp.P(K) commented, no vaccine found to hamper the Covid-19. The spreading could be reduced, among others, by washing hands regularly using soap and water or hand sanitizer, avoiding touching the face, using masks in the crowd, as well as a healthy diet, getting adequate exercise, and having enough sleep.

Not limited to the presentation of the material, the agenda also took place interestingly interspersed with the creation of a creative campaign video using social networks and music platforms that were being hit now, TikTok.
