The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continues to produce outstanding graduates, both in education and in the workforce. One notable alumnus is Wahyu Taufani Prialangga, who has successfully carved out a career in the audio-visual industry as a film director. Over the past five years, he has directed music videos for various renowned Indonesian artists.
Known as Angga, he has created hundreds of music videos for top celebrities, including Raisa, Noah, Rossa, Lyodra, Tiara Andini, JKT48, Slank, Rizky Febian, Coldiac, and many more. His career success began in his youth, fueled by a passion for music and growing up among musicians in Malang, such as Coldiac and Sal Priadi. Additionally, he drew inspiration from filmmakers like Angga Dwimas Sasongko and Yandy Laurens.

“First and foremost, I love music and was surrounded by musician friends in Malang, like Coldiac and Sal Priadi. Eventually, I tried to handle the music videos of these incredible artists. I was also inspired by Angga Sasongko and Yandy Laurens, hoping to follow in their footsteps by starting my career and making music videos,” he explained.
The Lamongan native, who grew up in Malang, finds his work enjoyable and does not feel challenged by it, as he enjoys collaborating with new people from diverse backgrounds and personalities. After more than five years in the industry, he has gained a wealth of new experiences and knowledge. He believes that the most crucial component in creating a beautiful and compelling music video is honesty, which brings the video’s character to life.
“In my experience, this industry is vast. Besides learning new things, being part of it requires us to keep learning. Good is subjective. Personally, I aim to be more honest in making music videos, expressing that through symbols and staging that suit the audience segment of the video,” he added.

His experiences and knowledge gained during his studies at UMM have been invaluable, providing a solid foundation for his work in the industry. Looking ahead, he hopes to work on feature films for cinema.
“The key is consistency. Nothing is impossible if you keep trying. The essence is to consistently create works continuously,” he advised. (*/fajr)
