The government continues to promote the development of human resources (HR) to achieve the golden Indonesia 2045. Interestingly, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) started long ago through the Center of Excellence (CoE) and Center for Future of Work (CFW) programs. This was conveyed by the Deputy Secretary of the Cabinet for Economic Affairs, Satya Bhakti Parikesit, S.H., M.M., LL.M., in the discussion of human resource development at UMM White Campus on Wednesday (27/7).

Bhakti, his nickname, continued to appreciate the inventive step from UMM, which aims to prepare human resources with skills suitable for the industry. Moreover, the CoEs were already present before the Ministry of Education and Culture-Ristek initiated the Independent Learning Campus program. He also considered that UMM's efforts were similar to what the government promoted in welcoming the 2045 golden generation.

"Honestly, before I came here, I heard about UMM's achievements. I am also curious about UMM's advantages in achieving various proud achievements. It turns out that some of them are the UMM PASTI program and also CoE and CFW," he added.

According to him, what UMM has done so far is on the right track. It must continue to be improved and promoted correctly. Moreover, this is an essential aspect that Indonesia needs now.

In achieving Indonesia's gold in 2045, Bhakti said Indonesia must be able to reduce the unemployment rate. Even by preparing employment opportunities of at least 2.5 million per year and investment that must be above six percent. Unfortunately, most Indonesian human resources' education levels and competencies are inadequate.

Whereas in the 2021-2024 timeframe, the additional needs for Indonesian workers reached 7,365,011 people or around 2,455,0004 per year. The three highest contributing sectors are agriculture, wholesale trade, and manufacturing. Not to mention the increasing number of certified training needs.

To overcome this, Bhakti said that the government implemented two primary keys. The first is the improvement of the education system, especially the revitalization of the vocational education system to the needs of the industry. Interestingly, this step has been carried out by UMM through CoE and CFW innovations that collaborate with the business and industrial worlds (DUDI). Then the second is the development of technology and improving the skills of workers and job seekers.

The demographic bonus is also an essential aspect that they must manage adequately. According to Bhakti, if Indonesia fails to take advantage of it, Indonesia's dreams and aspirations of 2045 gold will only be wishful thinking. There needs to be innovation, extraordinary leaps, and breakthroughs so that it can be realized and provide benefits for many people.

"Brazil has already passed the demographic bonus. Unfortunately, the management is not good, so the results are not optimal. Of course, we must avoid this so that Indonesia can become a better country," he said.

Bhakti also explained the Special Economic Zones (SEZ), especially the Singhasari SEZ, which aims to develop the region through a regional approach. Interestingly, the area provides various facilities such as facilities, relaxation of regulations, to fiscal incentives. This is done to attract investors and provide added value for the surrounding community and a positive contribution to national economic growth.

"I also chatted with the CEO of SEZ Singhasari not to let UMM out in developing CFW in the related area. Especially with the vision and interesting program that the White Campus has. The goal is, of course, to produce a generation capable and able to do a lot in the future," he said.

On the same occasion, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., emphasized that UMM CoE will not stop in the middle of the road. But it will continue to innovate and provide new programs to produce qualified students and alumni. This effort is part of UMM's breath to deliver students a bright future.

"This CoE is an iconic UMM breakthrough, and we must continue to promote it. Hopefully, today's discussion can provide enlightenment and open insight as capital to develop curriculum and human resources. Both for UMM and Indonesia," said Fauzan.

It also plans to remove various connotations in the world of education that have degraded meaning. One of them is the term internship, which will replace with professional work practices (PKP). According to him, currently, the term apprenticeship seems to be a second class and is often treated less well. (apg/wil)
