Recently, Indonesia has been shocked again by the issue of terrorism. The case arose because it indicated students at one campus in Malang were part of the ISIS network. Seeing this, the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), in collaboration with Opinion Cups and Regional Leaders (PW) of the East Java Muhammadiyah Student Association (IPM), held a national dialogue. The seminar, which was held at the end of May, raised the theme "Peace Philanthropy Movement."
The dialogue invited Ustadz Jack Harun, Drs. H. Supriyadi MM., Drh. Zainul Muslimin and Hasnan Bachtiar S.Sy., MIMWADV. Supriyadi started it as a representative from the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) East Java, who explained that the development of philanthropy in Indonesia could not be separated from three points, namely sharia charity, safety regulation, and productive waqf. The three points have an essential role in economic development in the philanthropic movement in the archipelago.
"As for this form of philanthropy, it is not limited to the peace movement but must also move in the economic aspect," said Supriyadi.
On the same occasion, Zainul Muslimin, the chairman of Lazismu East Java, revealed that philanthropy in Indonesia is currently not successful. Frankly, he said that poverty was one of them. Moreover, many people are already dissolved in that comfort zone. This can be seen when the community is still poor in reality, but they do not want it and are reluctant to admit it.

In addition, he also explained about winning the peace narrative on social media, especially considering that social media is now a basic need for information. "In my opinion, it is time for young people to win the peace narrative on social media. Don't just be satisfied with being a consumer, but must be able to change social behavior," said Zainul.
Meanwhile, Ustadz Jack Harun said that he was a former terrorism convict. According to him, terrorist groups in Indonesia aim to match the wealth and success of infidels (non-Muslims). However, the method used by this group justifies all means and even threatens the safety of the people. According to him, what he did in the past became a dark history for Indonesia, especially Islam itself.
"Alhamdulillah, now I have returned to defend the Republic of Indonesia. But the threats didn't end there. There are still many mortal fanatics with extremists. There will always be and will continue to threaten those who side with the Republic of Indonesia," added Jack.

The end of the event was closed with a presentation by Hasnan Bactiar, a lecturer of Islamic Family Law (HKI) UMM. He explained that this world is interconnected with each other. According to him, the country with the most population will always have the potential to give birth to extremist groups or movements.
Regarding the philanthropic movement, he said that, especially in Indonesia, there are 20% of wealthy people whose wealth is equivalent to 50% of the entire population of Indonesia. Meanwhile, only one is Muslim of the ten richest people in Indonesia. "In building peace philanthropy, efforts to deradicalize must be massive. Especially in a place where there are many extremist ideas," he explained. (apg/haq/wil)
