After the discussion on Saturday attended by Vice Chairman of MPR RI period 2009-2014, Hajriyanto Y. Thohari, Cagub East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Saifullah Yusuf and other figures, participants of Muhammadiyah Leadership Study of Regional Leadership (PWM) of East Java had the opportunity to dialogue directly with the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Leaders Period 2015-2020 Higher Education, Muhadjir Effendy.
Muhadjir who currently also serves as Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia discussed the ideology of each individual who has died and changed into the ideology of money. This is valid in many areas, including in politics.
"Politics is a mundane business, and one of the mundane affairs is material," he said at UMM Dome on Sunday (20/5).
Furthermore, Muhadjir said that if Muhammadiyah wants to participate in politics, it must be strong in material. Nonetheless, substantial matters that guide the organization should not be abandoned.
"Of course through the values that remain the guidance of Muhammadiyah," he explained.
Muhadjir also said that currently many Muhammadiyah people still think that material is not the main thing to be achieved. He also regretted, if because of the view in this era Muhammadiyah does not have a large strong enough material, whereas, the material force is a key to Muhammadiyah to do many things.
"On the other hand, Muhammadiyah has a tremendous capital of organizational discipline," he said.
Furthermore, Muhadjir also convey that the growth of Muhammadiyah to this time because supported by various business charity. This charity is the result of organizational discipline.
"If you hear that Muhammadiyah rich, that's definitely the organization especially its business deeds," he said.
Still discussing the same thing, Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Period 2005 – 2015, Din Syamsudin stressed that before coming into the world of politics, Muhammadiyah must understand about what is the value politics.
He also explained, a definition that has been widespread and practiced until now by political parties and politicians in terms of seizing strategic positions in the power arena. The definition is quoted from political experts United States, Harold D. Laswel which reads, Politics is who gets what, when, how. He also hopes this can be a reference of Muhammadiyah in the world of politics.
"Politics deals with who, take or seize what, when, and how," added Din.
