Currently, the job of content creators is growing rapidly in Indonesia. It can be seen from the number of accounts that have tens, hundreds, thousands, and even millions of followers. The content presented is also unique and interesting and is posted in the form of videos, images and texts.
It certainly influences young people, who want to become content creators. This phenomenon has garnered the attention of a Communication Science lecturer of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Novin Farid Setyo Wibowo, S.Sos., M.Sc. According to him, those who have created content, should be appreciated. In fact, he gives a thumbs up to those who dare to work by creating content.
Novin - his familiar nickname - believes that the potential for content creators to increase in Indonesia is enormous. The opportunity is also quite big to be one of them. “Now, this is the era of the creative industry, so it is not surprising that many content creators have emerged. It is good for encouraging creativity and many other aspects,” he explained.
This great opportunity will be fantastic for those who are able to use their brains, namely by creating innovative and creative things. Moreover, the development of social media is currently very rapid. Thus, it provides many opportunities for anyone.
“If looking back to the past, the era was dominated by communication science graduates and journalists. But now, there are many people who can use cameras, write narratives, and produce works," he added.
The lecturer, who specializes in film and television studies, said that research is a basic skill that must be possessed by a content creator. It does not need to discuss trending matters, but at least it knows exactly what is being informed or shared.
“Content creators provide information, so when conveying it, at least there is attractive content. This can only be obtained from superb and in-depth research," he explained.
Apart from research skills, consistency is also crucial to become a content creator. The meant consistency mainly concerns the theme or concept of the created content. The same thing also applies to the content characteristics. On the other hand, the posting schedule of content must be appropriate. It is essential so that the content can be easily known and optimized by the publication platform.
“Don't think our content is bad. Think about the process first. Then, spend that bad time until you can be excellent and continue to grow so that you can survive in the future," concluded the Communication Science lecturer, who serves as a producer. (imh/van/wil)
