Bullying is a serious problem that can happen in various environments. It can cause negative impacts for the victims, such as trauma. Hudaniah, S.Psi., M.Si., a lecturer in the Psychology study program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) said, there are several things that cause someone to become a bully. The first reason is that children feel unsafe and uncomfortable in their homes.
"It could be that their home does not fulfil their needs to achieve happiness. A home with a lot of commotion can cause someone to become a bully," she explains.

Hudan explained that bullying is a way for the perpetrator to express their discomfort and powerlessness at home. Usually, the perpetrators do it to individuals they perceive as weak and powerless.
The second is the desire for power. Some people need recognition from their environment, one of which is bullying certain people. Third, because of revenge. Fourth, to get the attention of parents, family, and friends.
"Of course, bullying can be prevented in various ways. However, comprehensive interventions are needed, both from ourselves and related parties such as families, schools, and even the government," she said.
According to Hudan, there are several steps to stop this behavior. The first step is to find out why the perpetrator is doing the bullying. After that, appropriate solutions can be planned in response to the reasons. However, regardless of the reason, the cooperation of all parties, such as social elements and the government, is still needed. "The cooperation of all parties is vital. Therefore, there will be no more places where bullying can happen," Hudan added.

Finally, the Chief of UPT Guidance and Counseling UMM hopes that bullying cases will no longer occur and people can increase their awareness of their actions. Especially seeing the tremendous impact on the psychology of victims and perpetrators. The victim will suffer from psychological pressure that is difficult to relieve, while the perpetrator will get social sanctions that are quite burdensome.
"Hopefully, people can appreciate the welfare of living together, and I hope there will be enforcement of rules and moral values for the youth. Thus, bullying can be minimized in this way," she concluded. (dev/wil/fajr)
