Recently, there have been various cases of crimes against children. It has increased parents' fears regarding the safety of their children. This phenomenon also made Moh. Wahyu Kurniawan, S.Pd. M.Pd. as a lecturer at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), spoke up. It is mainly related to what must be applied and done to reduce the number of crimes that target children as victims.
A lecturer from the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Department emphasized that there are already laws in Indonesia regulating children's safety and welfare. "It states that child protection is any activity to ensure and protect children and their rights so that they can live, grow, develop, and participate optimally with their dignity and humanity. As well as getting protection from violence and discrimination," he said.

According to him, violence will have a significant impact on children. Both mental, psychological, and self-confidence will tend to be weak. If the violence falls into the physical violence category, it can be charged as a criminal offense. Therefore, the government, community, family, or even schools must be careful and prohibited from committing violence against children.
"In education, schools can run a humanist education system pattern that refers to the three centers. The three are the family environment, school and community environment. The synergy of these three has a role and responsibility in developing education for children to be free from bullying," he added.

In addition, every school also needs to have a humanistic education that humanizes people. This can be done by respecting and appreciating the shortcomings and strengths of children. The educator should not impose their will to be in line with the field of interest of the educator.
"Basically, every child has their own potential. Therefore, teachers should have the capability to develop this. Instead of forcing them to master others," he said.
Moreover, Wahyu advised that an atmosphere that can develop children's competencies is an essential aspect of efforts to reduce crimes against children, not only at school but also in the environment where they live.
Monitoring is also not only imposed on the school but parents and families must also play an active role in protecting their children from crimes that have recently targeted children. We must understand that they are the nation's successors, so they must be cared for physically and mentally," he concluded. (Put/Fat/Wil)
