FACULTY of Economics and Business (FEB) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a Doctoral Colloquium presented four speakers from internal circles to present his doctoral dissertation. This seminar brought "Implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) in Developing economy" theme was held at UMM Dome Theater on Wednesday (19/4).
One of speakers, Dr. Ihyaul Ulum brought material entitled "Role Disclosure of Intellectual Capital and Profibilitas in the relationship between the performance of Intellectual Capital and Market Capitalization" describing the findings of its investigation of the role of Intellectual Capital Disclosure (ICD) and the profitability of the relationship between Intellectual Capital Performance (ICP) and the Market capitalization (MCAP). ICP had previously been measured with the new model labeled Modified Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (MVAIC).
"MVAIC is a comprehensive model for measuring intellectual capital based on the model of VAIC. The data was taken from the Indonesian banking companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange in three years, 2006, 2009 and 2012, "said the lecturer who focused on the study of Intellectual Capital, Public Sector Accounting, and Research Methodology.
Ihyaul continued, these findings showed that the ICD did not mediate the relationship between ICP and MCAP. The higher IC achievements, the less information IC disclosed in the annual report. Instead, Profit is a mediating variable in the relationship between ICP and MACP," he added.
Ihyaul found that the ICP and Profit effected on MCAP. Furthermore, those had a negative sign to the ICD. These discoveries showed that the better IC, the less information about IC disclosed in the annual report.
Other speakers who also filedl the one-day seminar were Dr. Wahyu Hidayat Riyanto through discussion "Determinant on Economic Growth, Disparity Income, And Poverty of Regencies/Cities in East Java Province", Dr. Ahmad Mohyi on "Building Commitment Organizational and Performance with the Professional Ethics , Work Motivation and Social Orientation: A phenomenon in Government Institutions", as well as Dr. Eny Suprapti discuss "The Effect of ownership structure, financial pressures, opportunities Financial Rationalization Against Double Taxation with Corporate Governance in Developing Economies".
