ALTHOUGH rains came previously, it did not decrease public interest to watch roadshow of the 2016 Indonesian Film Appreciation (AFI) which was held in Malang Town Square, Saturday (2/10) night. University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) that support the two-day event also played ‘Play On’ Film created by Cinematography Kine Club UMM a grup of Student Activity Unit (UKM).
The film that had been played in Guanxi Normal University of China in 2015 will be showed in Asia Pacific Festival by the end of October 2016 in Bandung. This 15 minutes film involved 30 members of UMM Kine Club in which different background study.
The Producer of Play On Film, Fery Indrawan explained, the title "Play On" has two meanings, the first, the words of play on which means "play!, the second the words playonan which means "running". The film about a little boy named Deva who combinated modern and traditional approaches in playing.f
In this film, Deva using a tablet to build a winning strategy of Gobak Sodor traditional games. The film, Rindya Said that the existence of technology was not always a negative influence for children’s playing phase. Conversely, by using technology, Deva as a city boy who was schooled in the village, capable of displaying a different perspective on how technology if was used properly, could develop children's skills.
Rindya said one obstacle during making this film was the weather. "Due to rain , the production process is late. after taking short rest, we continue shooting again, "Rindya confided when made the film, in 2014, He was still as a student of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fishery UMM.
Devalia Ilafi Savani, the one of actor Play On also presented in the showing of the film. Student who still studying at the 5th Junior High School (SMPN) Malang admitted greatfully her film could be played in the nationwide Festival Film Roadshow . "During joining the film, just need the confidence. I'm sure that everyone has their own talent, " Deva Said.
The other good news, the festival made by Kine Klub UMM, which the Malang Film Festival (MAFI Fest) was nominated in Appreciation Film Festival. In the nomination, MAFI Fest would compete with four other festivals, namely The Denpasar Film Festival, the Anti-Corruption Film Festival, The Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival, and The Jakarta Documentary & Experimental Film Festival. Among the five festival nominees, MAFI Fest was the only one that was considered made by students, considering the other nominees were film that made by professionals. (Can / han)
