The University of Muhammadiyah Malang, especially its Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FTTE), became the implementer of the Teacher Education Program with the highest graduation index, as said by the Secretary to the Minister of Religious Affairs in the activities of inauguration and oath-taking of Professional Teacher Education in positioning for madrasah teachers, held on May 20. Overall, four hundred and eighty-two students from the program have graduated from some subjects, such as biology, English, etc.
Sidik emphasizes that teachers are leading actors in education, not only in transferring knowledge but also in being students' role models, given that current technology can't provide moral education comprehensively as a teacher does.

"When encountering difficult issues or questions, students nowadays tend to search for them on Google. However, technological advancement can't give (them) moral education yet. Here is where the strategic role of the teacher must always guide them," said he.
Sidik also reminded them that teachers must be able to spread prophetic values in children's education. Primarily, the Prophet Muhammad is the role model of Muslims. Additionally, he gave a set of messages quoted from K. H. Ahmad Dahlan. One of the criteria of a competent teacher is being able to master the teaching and learning process by creating a conducive and optimal learning atmosphere.
On the same occasion, the Secretary of the National Committee for Teacher Professional Education of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Mustofa Fahmi, M.Ed, also attended the inauguration. He said that there are about 831 thousand active madrasa teachers. Unfortunately, there are still 49% or 431 thousand of yet-uncertified teachers.
Then, Fahmi explained that four main focuses are being developed for enhancing teacher competence: career, competence, qualification, and welfare.
He also advised the Teacher Professional Education (TPE) graduates to prioritize the mission of goodness and optimize the knowledge gained during the program. "I congratulate you and wish you success. If, before joining the TPE program, students say istigfar (Trans.: I seek Allah's forgiveness) when entering classrooms, now, God willing, they will say alhamdulillah because you all are the best and most professional teachers," said he in the auguration.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., said that the demographic bonus of Indonesia is predicted to end by 2038. Therefore, massive effort must be taken to utilize the moment, depending on Indonesia's quality of human resources.

"When discussing human resources, it automatically discusses education and teachers. So that you all have the responsibility for developing intelligent and competent human resources through good and proper upbringing," emphasized the Rector.
Another similar idea was also conveyed by the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training of UMM, Dr. Trisakti Handayani, M.M. She said that artificial intelligence (AI) has been widespread. Many sectors have utilized it, and AI has even replaced humans, including in the education and pedagogy fields.
"Can teachers' roles be occupied? Things we can do are establish partnerships, support (each other), and utilize technology to solve education issues we're currently facing," ended Trisakti. (imh/faq/wil)
