University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continued to be committed to strengthening cooperation in the international arena. In line with this, the UMM Faculty of Engineering collaborated with the Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Thursday (5/12).
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UMM, Dr. Ahmad Mubin, MT Explained, the signing of this MoU was also an introduction to the development of research that had been implemented by UTM in global planning.
"Indonesia, which is one group and is closest to some similarities in language, culture, hopes that the sustainability research experience that UTM has done can be transmitted at UMM so that it can be applied to strengthen internationalization," Mubin said.
Prof. Dr. Astuty Bin Amrin, Dean of the Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics in his presentation explained, how UTM in designing strategies for the next five years. Various policies repaired in order to achieve goals within the next five years. According to him, human resources had to be in line with global developments.
"In the 4.0 industrial revolution, students are no longer job seekers. Students must have a mindset as job creators. Therefore, entrepreneurial mentality must be instilled in students, "said Astuty.
Furthermore, Astuty introduced various programs that could be implemented also at UMM. Among them was the program of CEO Faculty Program, where young lecturers would be directed to work in companies. The hope was that the lecturer would gain experience that the input could be applied in teaching in the classroom.
Not only the program for lecturers but also the students did not focus on the final exam. Students had to be able to compete in class in the form of presentations and discussions. This hoped to sharpen critical thinking in students.
"There are other strategies that can also be carried out by universities, namely global performance in the form of branding, innovation in the ecosystem, financial sustainability as practised by UMM, e-learning that must be done in industry 4.0 at this time," said Astuty.
The contents of the MoU included several collaborations, including the philosophy of doctor's remote supervision program, namely the research-based S3 program that would be implemented soon, the summer program and student exchange and lecture exchange. (win)
