University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continuously improves the quality of its education. The good news came from the Civil Engineering Study Program, which received Excellent accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). This increase in accreditation was obtained last Wednesday (04/08).
Head of Civil Engineering Study Program, Ir. Rofikatul Karimah, M.T., said that the Civil Engineering Study Program was accredited before getting the Excellent accreditation. B. Rofi said that the B accreditation was still valid until 13 October. However, the Civil Engineering Study Program decided to submit an earlier conversion to BAN-PT. "Alhamdulillah, our application was accepted and managed to get accreditation Very Good," said the Madura-born lecturer.
In the process of increasing accreditation, there are several aspects that BAN-PT assesses. Rofi said there were four criteria in the assessment: the first, from the teaching staff's part. Mainly the number of Permanent Lecturers in the Study Program (DTPS) in Civil Engineering. Then there is also an assessment of the curriculum aspect, How UMM Civil Engineering compiles and runs its curriculum. Second, Student learning achievement. And the last, There is an assessment in terms of quality assurance owned by UMM Civil Engineering.
Explained again by Rofi, the curriculum used in learning in Civil Engineering Study Program is the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) system. This system emphasizes the sustainability of the learning process in an innovative, interactive, and effective manner. It will give birth to students and graduates who can provide solutions to problems.
"We have also prepared a superior class for Micro-hydro Power Plants (PLTMH) for the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) Program. The hope is that they can better understand how the use of PLTMH is to provide benefits to residents," said the secretary of the Indonesian Construction Experts Association (HAKI).
Finally, Rofi revealed that the following plan for the UMM Civil Engineering study program is to focus on preparing an international accreditation program. Even with excellent accreditation available. Rofi also said that the success of the Mechanical Engineering study program in achieving this accreditation result was due to the hard work of all lecturers, employees, and students of Civil Engineering. The collaboration and synergy of all parties are the keys to this success. "Hopefully, UMM Civil Engineering can continue to develop and always develop itself so that it can become a better study program," she concluded. (apg/syi/wil)
