Indonesia's Coordinator Minister for Human Development and Culture Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP. Attended the Haul Akbar and Joint Prayer for the Country on September 1, 2023. Hundreds of scholars, religious leaders, kyais from various Islamic boarding schools, thousands of worshipers, students, the general public, other figures, and the sultanate were also present. The Haul, a forum for friendship and joint prayer, was held at the Assalam Islamic Boarding School, Sumberejo, Kandat, Kediri.
Only some people know that Muhadjir is the 6th descendant of Kyai Ageng Basyariyah or Raden Bagus Harun—the same ancestor as the President of the Republic of Indonesia KH. Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur). Many national and pesantren figures were also born in the past and present. For example, Mbah Sambu Lasem, Mbah Maimun Jubair KH. Ahfas Faishol Baidlowi Lasem, Gus Baha, and others. It also makes Muhadjir very close to the clerics among Nahdhatul Ulama (NU).
On this occasion, Muhadjir said that the haul moment was a place to follow the spirit of ancestors who had spread Islam in Indonesia. In addition, the struggle was also the beginning of an attempt to raise the dignity of society in the era before Indonesia's independence.
"The great figures who preceded independence, the kyais, and the ancestors who fought before independence had an important role in educating the nation. One of them is through Islamic teachings. That spirit is what we all need to follow and do in this era," he said.
Muhadjir juga bercerita bahwa ia baru saja datang dari Papua Tengah untuk menyelesaikan bencana kelaparan yang sedang terjadi. Maka dari itu, ia juga mengajak para jamaah untuk mendoakan saudara-saudara sebangsa dan negara yang ada di sana agar kondisinya bisa segera pulih dan stabil. Kunjugannya ke Papua Tengah juga menjadi momen pertama kali seorang pejabat datang untuk membantu dan mencari solusi masalah.

On the same occasion, the caretaker of Al-Hidayah Ponpes KH.R. Mashadi Prawiranegara was also present. He said that lineage and fate must be equal. It will be troublesome if the family is good, but the future is terrible. Therefore, it is important to organize and manage fate.
Nevertheless, he regrets that today, many people are only pursuing lineage. Each of them claims to be a descendants of great figures. The most important thing is the good deeds that have been done. "We don't need to fight over whose descendants, whose children, and so on, the important thing is how we try to do as many good deeds as possible," he said.
This haul moment is also an excellent place to reconnect. Primarily it is attended by kyai, sultans, Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) (trans: Indonesian National Army), and the government, such as the Coordinating Minister for PMK.
