The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is required to be a militant cadre and not a sluggish cadre. It always rings with Dr. Ramliyanto, SP, MP, as the Chief of the Badan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia (BPSDM) of East Java Province and an alumnus of UMM's White Campus. He also had the opportunity to give a scientific oration in front of UMM graduates on August 27th, 2024.

“The encouragement was shared by my lecturers and the chancellor back then. It made me and my friends not give up in the face of various limitations. That is also what the graduates must hold on to,” he said.

His presence at the 115th graduation ceremony was a moment of gratitude and happiness for him. He also congratulated the graduates who have earned honorable academic degrees. Ramli believes that the graduates will be able to overcome various challenges because of the various knowledge they have gained.

Ramli also told us about his journey to where he is today. It started in 1999, when he served as a civil servant at the Ministry of Home Affairs in East Java. Then in 2021 he received the mandate to become the Head of the Organization Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of East Java Province. An institution in charge of institutional structuring, management, and public services as well as bureaucratic reform. Although the task he carried out was not in accordance with the major he took while studying, the enthusiasm instilled by UMM lecturers made him able to lead the bureaucratic reform process in the East Java Provincial Government smoothly. In fact, he has encouraged various public service innovations that have received appreciation at the national and international levels.

Ramli feels proud to be part of UMM. A campus that has made him a successful and dedicated figure in service to the country. “UMM is not only an academic campus but also a campus of life. Here, I get the provision of knowledge as well as the provision of life, which is very valuable,” he concluded.

On the other hand, UMM Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, M.Si., said that UMM is the second parent for alumni of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This means that a strong relationship between alumni and campus must be like the relationship between children and parents. The programs at UMM are also fully dedicated to producing people who are ulul albab. The quality of the entire process always puts forward the value of UMM's commitment as a Center of Excellence (CoE).

Finally, he said that one of the most important advantages that UMM has is to provide provisions for students and community members to get used to honing thinking skills based on religion and a strong willingness to learn science. Supported by a high sense of humanity and spirituality. That is the character of UMM Pasti and UMM Berkemajuan. (Zaf/Wil/Put)
