Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) can move independently by developing various businesses in various sectors. Starting from hospitality to tourism. It even created a breakthrough in human resources, the Center of Excellence (CoE). International marketing expert Hermawan Kartajaya revealed this in a public lecture on entrepreneurial marketing on May 13, 2023.
He, who is also the founder and chairman of MCorp and ACSB Indonesia, appreciated the CoE program worked on by the UMM White Campus. According to him, youth can learn much from the program and be more easily integrated into the workforce. "UMM is unique because it does not only focus on education but also various things. Conducting management neatly and producing innovations related to entrepreneurship. This is an advantage and attraction in itself," he added.
Hermawan also mentioned Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah (PTM) (Trans: Muhammadiyah Universities) throughout Indonesia. According to him, these PTMs can be more flexible in developing institutions, especially to answer the needs of the 5.0 era. "I think PTMs, including UMM, can relatively respond faster and provide solutions in the midst of community problems," he emphasized.
Hermawan's arrival is also a sign that even though UMM is a campus with Islamic values, the White Campus always upholds inclusiveness. Inviting speakers with different religious backgrounds, races, languages, and others, sharing knowledge, and collaborating to advance the country.
The CEO of MarkPlusInc also conveyed the same thing. Dr. Jacky Mussry. He explained that the key to entrepreneurial success begins with good planning. Then it must also be able to see the market potential and optimize resources to book good financial records. All of this must be done so gambling does not appear when opening a business.

"These things are often overlooked by new business people. Small things and details that should have been mastered and run since the business was established," he said.
According to him, business is something other than something that starts from big things like start-ups. But it can also start from small things such as buying and selling online and opening a simple shop. That mindset must be instilled in the minds of youth to be brave and able to open a business.
On the same occasion, UMM Rector Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., said many people want to open a business but only stop at the desired stage. They are unwilling and challenged to move to realize their desires.
"Being desirous is not enough. It must be accompanied by the courage to start moving. Looking for opportunities, looking for partners, collaborating, and so on. The youth, including UMM students, must dare to step up and take risks. That way, the business that is started early will provide a lot of experience so that it can develop it in the future, "he concluded. (put/faq/wil)
