The role of artificial intelligence (AI) is constructive for hospitals (RS) in improving the quality of patient care. This was conveyed by Taipei Medical University lecturer Fu-Chih Lai in the Health Science International Conference agenda. The international seminar held by the Faculty of Health Sciences (Fikes) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was held online via zoom and youtube last Wednesday (05/10). 138 researchers and 53 speakers attended the conference.
Furthermore, Fu-Chih Lai explained that it had integrated AI and healthcare in Taiwan for a long time. The main reason for developing health AI in Taiwan is the safety factor and improving the quality of care in hospitals. The national insurance program also supports this. As many as 99.9% of the population in Taiwan is included in the insurance. Therefore, the use of AI will connect one element to another.

"We use a health system called Electronic Health Records (HER). There are several advantages of using the (HER) system. Namely, it can display patient charts quickly and accurately, even if the data is years old. In addition, doctors can also monitor patients without having to visit the inpatient room directly. Finally, HER can also show the actions it must take for low-risk patients," said the Associate Professor of the Post-Baccalaureate Program in Nursing.
Regarding the development of HER in Taiwan, Fu-Chih Lai considered that Indonesia could also apply the same thing. The use of HER, big data, and AI has proven effective in improving hospital patient care and safety. It doesn't have to be done simultaneously. Indonesia can do it step by step.

"We have been optimizing AI in the world of health since we were in college by holding AI program classes at medical universities. In the future, AI development challenges will still exist. Therefore, I hope Indonesia can face the challenges of developing health AI together," said the Kent State University graduate.
On the other hand, A'liyatur Rosyidah, M.Si., one of the speakers, explained the latest antibiotic technology. As is well known, antibiotics have played an essential role in treating various diseases related to bacteria. The variety and types of antibiotics also vary according to their ability to inhibit bacterial growth. However, recent cases show the existence of antibiotic resistance.
"This causes the bacteria to grow and spread to other individuals. There are several causes of this resistance, namely, the misuse and overuse of antibiotics. WHO and CDC have also expressed concern about this issue. Therefore, the development of the latest antimicrobials is being carried out," said the staff of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI).
