Students are always fond of immersing in a student exchange program. Two informatics engineering students of UMM felt the opportunity: Muh. Ridha Agam and Niko Silabest. They participated in the International Credit Transfer program (ICT) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The students have taken a bioinformatics course at Asia University, Taiwan, from September 9, 2022, until January 28, 2023.
Ridha said that he and Niko have to study at two different majors in two different universities. Furthermore, this student exchange program was held online. Despite the condition, they do not waste this chance.
Ridha feels he can adapt to the study guidelines and the curriculum at Asia University. He added that the lecturers there only explain them in general. Of course, the students must independently learn and review the lecture material. It made him surprised and difficult.
“I face hardship during my adaptation process. It’s different from Indonesia, where lecturers there explain many things,” he uttered.
However, he has another unforgettable moment: the ability to participate in an international program easily. Ridha admitted that he participated in several international conferences, discussed with diverse students, and exchanged perspectives.
In line with Ridha, Niko said that it took two to three weeks to adapt to the learning process at Asia University. It not only is not about learning material but also a course assignment. At Asia University, the assignment is a “project” and is immediately determined sometime before the mid-term and final exams.

The learning process on Tronclass, the unique platform of Asia University, is considered fun. However, Niko feels that student interaction is not optimal though he obtained many exciting things. He also admitted that group assignments are seldom divided, so he does not have a close international friend.
Ridha and Niko feel lucky to be studying at two different campuses simultaneously. Though it is challenging, they can gain exciting and new experiences. “Alhamdulillah UMM always supports us to develop our self-potency by providing a golden opportunity like this program.”, Niko ended.
