To maintain the quality of a university, the establishment and management of standards must be carried out consistently and continuously. It is what the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continually strives to maintain to maintain the quality of its education. Thanks to the hard work built so far, UMM was chosen to be a partner of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) to develop the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) for both accredited and C accredited universities.
Head of Internal Quality Assurance Agency (BPMI) UMM Dr. Ainur Rofieq, M.Kes., explained that apart from UMM, seven other A-accredited and excellent universities are partners. These eight universities will assist approximately 14 private universities in developing SPMI. "In addition to being accredited as Good and C, the 14 private universities that will be fostered are appointed directly by the Ministry of Education and Technology because they have never uploaded proof of implementation of SPMI in higher education on the SPMI Dikti SIM," said the biology education lecturer.
Furthermore, Rofieq, as he is familiarly known, explained that there are several things that partner universities will do during the mentoring period. The first is to assist 14 universities in preparing the SPMI main document. The next step is to help the management of the survey on the level of satisfaction of stakeholders with the related universities. The next stage is delivering SPMI implementation best practices from each partner university.
"Finally, we will share the implementation of the Management of Determination, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement of Higher Education Standards, commonly referred to as PPEPP. This program will run from the beginning of July to November 2022," said the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) assessor.
Regarding the selection of UMM as SPMI's partner, the lecturer, born in 1965, expressed his gratitude because the implementation of SPMI UMM had been considered reasonable by the Ministry of Education and Culture, so he became a partner. He hopes that what he does will help more universities experiencing problems.
"I also hope that every university that is a partner of UMM will have the documents, management, and implementation of SPMI by the expectations and provisions of the Ministry of Education and Culture. In addition, I also hope that in the future, partner universities will be facilitated to participate in the accreditation process organized by BAN-PT or by the Independent Accreditation Institute (LAM)," he concluded.
