Jamboree at UMM, Muhammadiyah Volunteers Provide Environmentally Friendly Kitchen

Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) provides public kithen at the 2nd National Jamboree of Muhammadiyah which is held in University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This kitchen which is centered in UMM Dome is important to educate the volunteers in logistic management.

Eko said, “We want to educate Aisyiyah members in Malang in managing public kithenm”. Furthermore, the volunteers learn about management, food standardization, kinds of food, etc. This Jamboree activity will be a valuable experience in dealing with emergency situation.

The concept of Public kithen in this National Jamboree is environmentally friendly. Tjere is no packaged food in order to reduce waste and the use of paper or plastic. Furthermore, the food served with a semi-buffet concept and the articipants have to bring their own curlery.

The food served are cooked by experienced chefs. Thus, it is according to healthy food standard. The menu will be different every day, such as fried rice, lodeh, fish, milkfish, etc.

Eko said, “Jamboree cannot be separated from the public kithen. If the activities in the kitchen are late, so the activities in Jamboree will be late too. So, we support our friends in the kitchen to give their best services”. (lus)
