The XVIII Congress of Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM) invited the general (Purn) Gatot Nurmantyo. In the Theater Dome of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), General (Purn) Gatot explained to students how the role of Islamic youth towards the ideology of Pancasila, on Friday (3/8).
"I am surprised why there are students who are concerned about the ideology of Pancasila, friends of the IMM are very critical in raising the nation's current problems about the ideology of Pancasila," he said appreciating.
According to him, the condition of young people today tends to neglect the Pancasila. However, it was felt differently when he saw IMM students throughout Indonesia enthusiastically to attend the National Seminar.
In his speech, he explained how the examples of non-Pancasila leaders and government officials in several criteria are those who buy and control the mass media. So, it easily leads to public opinion, those who divide political parties, those who buy laws, exploit resources nature, pitting TNI soldiers, and letting the SARA conflict endless.
"The most frequent conflict is now Muslims. We are divided because of different views. We should be united, if we are united we are strong!" he said.
One of participants, Dwi Rusmaini, the Restoration Commissariat IMM member of Faculty of Psychology UMM also felt that nowadays youths understood etymologically or only the meaning of the word, but could not be applied.
"I agree with Mr. Gatot’s opinion. Maybe not only leaders and government officials do that, we can be young people who are far from the knowledge and practice of Pancasila. So I think it's important for us as youth to be critical in ideology of Pancasila," Dwi concluded. (ard)
