Sharing and spreading kindness is one of the commitments that the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) does not uphold as an institution. The White Campus academicians also do it consistently. One of them is the distribution of the open menu by the UMM Doing Good (KBB) Group. Every day, they distribute more than 230 boxed rice to the congregation and the community during the month of Ramadan.

Thathit Manon Andini, M. Hum. as the treasurer explained that this activity had been carried out for many years. Starting from the Friday sharing program, then continued and developed in the holy month of Ramadan. Interestingly, many lecturers and employees contributed so that the amount of rice given was always increasing.

“Not only those who are still active but also many retired lecturers and employees who take part in this sharing activity. We also open up opportunities for outsiders to participate in donating in every activity we do,” he added.

Thatit, his nickname, continued that the distribution of groceries was carried out every day at the AR Mosque. Fachruddin UMM and Masjid KH Bedjo Dermo Leksono UMM Hospital. some are also distributed to the public for breaking the fast. Even before the pandemic, not only two mosques but KBB also provided them in all UMM mosques.

Interestingly, KBB does not only carry out routine activities of this kind. There are incidental programs that are often held, such as offering strollers to those in need. Likewise with the distribution of donations to the victims of the disaster that occurred some time ago.

"Alhamdulillah, so far there are more than 50 trolleys that we have distributed to people in need, such as herbal medicine sellers. When opening the donation, the residents were also very enthusiastic about giving their best," said the lecturer from Kediri.

It also wants KBB to be a place to share and help others. In addition, KBB also wants to be able to continue to facilitate lecturers and employees to share some of their assets.

“If you share it individually, I think it will be difficult and less effective. It is different if the distribution is done collectively and together. God willing, it will be easier and more efficient and will reach those who need it more quickly,” concluded the lecturer in the English Study Program. (*wil)
