The University of Muhammadiyah Malang is developing a new area in Karangploso, Malang Regency. This 1.1-hectare site is being utilized to develop Muhammadiyah's preaching activities in East Java and is managed in collaboration with the regional leadership of Muhammadiyah in East Java. Also present during the visit was the General Chairman of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si., on November 11.

"We are certainly grateful because UMM, as part of Muhammadiyah, has been allowed to expand its practical field with a modern Islamic boarding school. Moreover, the location, architecture, and environment are so wonderful and prideful," said Haedar.

He further emphasized that progressive educational institutions should begin by establishing significant traditions. This involves building a cultural ecosystem of thought and everyday behaviour that reflects Muslims entrusted with the mandate to build civilization. Further, Muhammadiyah has a long history spanning a century.

"We hope to nurture human resources that not only possess good morals and ethics but are also intelligent, knowledgeable, progressive, and have an optimistic outlook on life to become actors in shaping the future," he added firmly.

UMM's new location comprises several parts, including a four-story main building consisting of classrooms, offices, and an auditorium. There are separate three-story dormitories for boys and girls, each with 13 rooms. Additionally, it is equipped with a two-story Javanese-style mosque.

"Hopefully, with these excellent buildings and land, we will be able to produce a generation that embodies the hopes of Muhammadiyah and the nation," he concluded. (*wil/fajr)
