The Center of Excellence (CoE), which was worked on by the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), received special attention from the General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) M. Arsjad Rasjid, P.M. He said that CoE UMM was an innovative and visionary program, especially in preparing quality human resources. This was conveyed during his visit to the White Campus on November 9, 2022.
Arsjad continued that CoE is in line with Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 68 of 2022 concerning the Revitalization of Vocational Education and Vocational Training. So, he wants to immediately carry out concrete cooperation with the White Campus to achieve goals by the related Presidential Regulation.
According to him, in this fast-paced era, there needs to be a breakthrough in efforts to create superior human resources, especially with the digitalization in various sectors and the industrial revolution. "This new world that we call the new normal of a pandemic does have many challenges, especially human resources. So, one of the things we can do is collaborate. Of course, Kadin and UMM can immediately do concrete cooperation in various activities," he said.

On the same occasion, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., assessing the presence of Kadin in implementing the CoE can certainly strengthen it in many aspects. Especially with a vision and style that no longer uses the old ways. According to him, if Indonesian education still uses traditional methods, this nation will continue to be left behind.
“Establishing a study program is not enough in one or two years. Some many processes and paths must be passed. So, UMM is present in a new way through CoE and the Center for future of Work (CFW). The establishment is faster. The implementation is also precise,” he said.
The Chancellor from Kediri also explained that the community now needs unique human resources. For example, it is not enough to use fisheries-based human resources if you need shrimp. However, there must be human resources that focus on shrimp. So, more than 40 UMM CoEs were present. It started from the school of shrimp, poultry, PLTS, welding inspector, HRD, assistant advocate, orchids, koi fish, metaverse, and a series of others.
As for the CoE, which focuses on technology, UMM has built a partnership with the Singhasari Exclusive Economic Zone (KEK). It was even fully supported by the deputy governor of East Java and surprised partners from Britain, Japan to Australia. (cdr/wil)
