Nowadays, it is necessary to have the proper skills to realize the excellent quality of public service. It was also discussed in the Seminar and Doctoral Colloquium organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FSPS), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). The colloquium discussed "The Contribution of Socio-Political Research to Improving the Quality of Public Services".
One of the most influential factors in improving services is interpersonal communication. Dr. Farid Rusman, M.Si., said there are several things to consider in interpersonal communication. For example, it relates to how other people want to know us. Knowing our purpose and status can make it easier for others to position themselves when talking or communicating with us.
"I have seen that a thesis related to interpersonal communication is less in demand. We always experience this type of communication without realizing it," he said.

Furthermore, Farid believes that interpersonal communication techniques can improve the quality of public services. This is since this communication can be diversified in various conditions, such as spousal, friendship, and family relationships. It can even be connected to politics, business, and marketing.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sulismadi, M.Si. also mentioned that in improving public services, conflict prevention is important. He considered that in industrial relations, various interests are desirable. It affects the synergy of stakeholders with organizations, partners, and the community.
"In resolving conflicts, there is a need for good negotiations to create mediation. Then, it will create consolidation and arbitration, leading to the emergence of adjudication," he said.

In building a good industry, it is also necessary to have harmonious, dynamic and fair relationships. Thus, the factors that can cause conflicts can be avoided. "I believe that conflict resolution is crucial for industrial development to proceed properly," he said.
The Vice-Chancellor II of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, M.Si, was also present. He thinks that improving public services is a privilege owned by the community. It requires an initiator to realize this goal. UMM's youth are provided with various knowledge and skills. Among them is the ability to become a facilitator for improving public services.
"The university is always trying to improve to create worthwhile characteristics, especially considering that its function is to become the main support for the change in the thinking of a backward community to become relatively educated. UMM has facilitated the academic community, including students, to grow. Therefore, they can realize the best quality, and the dream of Indonesia can be realized," he concluded. (Ri/Wil/Put)
