The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) took a series of concrete steps to improve quality. One of them is related to the management of the owned laboratory. It was stated in a focused discussion held on Thursday (20/5) at Rayz Hotel UMM. The discussion was carried out to standardize laboratories at the White Campus. The laboratory can carry out its functions according to existing policies.
Rector of UMM Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. Assessed that the laboratory is not only related to practical activities. You can also develop branding and marketing efforts. That way, there are also efforts to explore external interests.
The Vice Rector I of the White Campus, Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Sc., also said that the laboratory should be part of the Center of Excellence. Take a role as a source of research activities that can support the world of education. In addition, it must also strengthen and improve quality institutions.
"The head of the laboratory must know and understand the university's existing policies. They can carry out programs in their respective laboratories based on policies," added Syamsul.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Laboratory, Prof. Dr. Ir. Wahyu Widodo said the general function of the laboratory. Two of them are practical and non-practical activities. According to him, the practicum activities have been going well so far. So things that need to be improved are things that are outside the practicum.
Another thing that is not less important is good coordination. It is necessary so that each laboratory can understand the vision and mission, goals, and objectives that should be achieved. "That way, there will be no more misunderstanding and ignorance of the university's policies," he said.
On the other hand, Central Laboratory Quality Manager Dr. Ir. Endang Sri Hartati, MP. hoped that all activities carried out in the UMM laboratory could be standardized. That way, each of them can adequately meet the existing standards." The evaluation process and internal audit of each lab must also be carried out. So there will be significant improvements in the future," he added. (cdr/zak/wil)
