University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) wants students to be able to master entrepreneurial skills. More than that, students must be able to initiate and become a solopreneur. This is the spirit of a series of Student Leadership and Management Exercises (LKMM), which examines solopreneurship and the nature of organizational existence. The LKMM, held for three days since last Tuesday (19/4), was attended by more than 170 functionary participants from intra-student institutions to student activity units at UMM.
Being the first speaker, Secretary of Diktilitbang PP Muhammadiyah Muhammad Sayuti, M.Pd., M.Ed., P.hD. explain the condition of Islam and the spirit of solopreneurship among students. According to him, leadership is a valuable skill. Not only for the present but also the future.
Sayuti, his nickname, also encourages students to be part of the solution in society. One way is through solopreneurship. In contrast to a business model that only enriches oneself, solopreneurship does not only provide benefits for oneself. But also pay attention to the welfare of society.

"Conventional business widens the gap between rich and poor, suppresses the weak, and damages the environment. However, solopreneurship is not like that. Instead, it must encourage the community towards better conditions," he added.
The Newcastle University alumnus also invited participants to maximize digital and technological aspects. Paying attention to three critical situations, namely before the pandemic, during the pandemic, and the era in which the pandemic ended. Moreover, there have been many developments in automation and artificial intelligence. So it needs the readiness of students to be able to master and use it for good.
"It is the same with Indonesia's rapid digital development. They are accompanied by an online business model increasing five times faster. So, brothers and sisters are expected to be able to take advantage of it and become qualified solopreneurs who can spread benefits to others," said Sayuti.

Meanwhile, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. Explained that LKMM was present to equip participants to enter the demographic bonus and the golden era of Indonesia. White Campus has also made various facilities to give students expertise in specific fields according to their passion. Likewise, with high leadership skills.
"Currently, we are also designing a facility that we call the Center of Future Works. This program will direct dozens of UMM Centers of Excellence to form future work-oriented human resources. The plan is that who will locate this program in the Karang Ploso area and collaboration with the Singhasari Special Economic Zone, "explained Fauzan. (apg/wil)
