Dance performance by LK UMM team starts Character Education National Seminar. |
Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia art director Dr. Restu Gunawan MHum said relationship between education and art culture could not be separated. Both aspects must support each other. "The only way to build culture is through education," Restu said during the National Character Education held at UMM on Wednesday, september 20.
The event entitled "Building Nation Character Education Based on Cultural" was cooperation result between Cultural Institute (LK) UMM with Post Graduate of Indonesian Education.
Drs Joko Widodo MSi as an organizing commite rated the weakness of character nation was threat within country existence. "The rapid development of communications and information technology give some impacts, both positive and negative. Especially if Indonesia does not have a strong character. It is a real challenge for education, "he said.
Joko Widodo hoped this seminar would gave significant impact on character education, especially through cultural dimension. "Hopefully, this seminar can formulate and declare on education recommendation of national character and also to declare community of cultural education activist of national based on character," explained Joko in his speech.
The seminar was attended by 251 people consisti of teachers, lecturers, undergraduate and post graduate students, as well as researcher of education and culture. Three s expert speaker attended, they were Indonesian litterateur Prof. Dr. Sumito A Sayuti, education expert Prof. Dr. Wahyudi Siswanto MPd and LK UMM head Dr. Daroe Iswatiningsih MSi. (Naz)
