To offer international experiences and environments, Muhammadiyah Malang University (UMM) consistently provides opportunities for its students. One such initiative is sending students to summer schools or other similar activities. This time, the Agribusiness Program at UMM has sent a group of students to participate in a Summer School program at Silpakorn University in Thailand at the end of August.

Festy Putri Ramadhani, SP., MP., the spokesperson for Agribusiness UMM, mentioned that this program provides valuable opportunities in a foreign country. The students engage in various activities over five days, focusing on different aspects of agribusiness. "Students are also encouraged to broaden their international friendships and gain new insights into the global world," she added.

The students participated in cultural exchange activities where they interacted with peers from countries such as Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, China, South Korea, and Thailand. They were also taken on an electric tram to visit several important sites, including Aquaculture Farm, Goat Farm, Khok Nong Na Model, and Green Shop.

“At Goat Farm, we interacted directly with livestock and conducted several experiments in the agribusiness laboratory. I hope these activities will boost our international motivation,” said Aura Azizah Opal Labibah, one of the students.

Interestingly, the participants also took part in releasing crabs and other marine animals back into their natural habitat at Huahin Beach. This activity aimed to promote environmental conservation, emphasizing not only agribusiness growth but also environmental awareness.

Additionally, the program included a session on making Thai mango sticky rice, covering everything from selecting ingredients to turning them into a valuable product. "This program focuses on the best ways to process raw materials into higher quality products and attractive packaging for the market. I hope it provides new experiences and encourages us to be more diligent in our studies," she added. (*/Wil/Fajr)
