Art creativity is now increasingly colorful and diverse. One of them is the work of students of the Accounting study program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), namely the innovation of painting using natural materials through the 'Painting House'. This innovation received attention and won funding for the Program Pembinaan Mahasiswa Wirausaha (P2MW) (trans: Student Entrepreneurship Development Program) from the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs.

These team members are Muhammad Rafly Ragil Adi Putra, Aprilisfiya Handayani, Saaul Mufidah, Sinta Krismaya, and Caterina Aruli Iskandar. Their success is inseparable from the role of their lecturer, Aviani Widyastuti, S.E., AK.CA., M.SA.

'Painting House' is a business engaged in the art sector and focused on selling art products such as paintings. Moreover, they also have a workshop and offer painting course services with a different approach. This program uses media such as canvas, hat, hijab/veil, and dry leaf.

This project can draw attention to this innovation in creating natural paints from turmeric, carrots, and bay leaves. Aprilisfiya Handayani, a member of 'Painting House', explained that this effort was undertaken to reduce the impact of conventional chemical paint waste that is difficult to decompose.

"It has the same concept as eco printing, where pounded leaves can provide a unique motif on the surface of the canvas. It is different if you want to get a yellow color. Use the grated turmeric first, then take the essence," she explains.

The Painting House is more than just inspirational art. It also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 12 on sustainable production and consumption. As well as point 8 on decent work and economic growth.

"Through Painting House, street artists who haven't had steady jobs can take on the role as painting instructors. It can certainly open up new and sustainable job opportunities," she added.

This project has become a platform to explore creativity in this increasingly innovative art scene. Supporting street artists, reducing environmental damage, and making it a positive step in adorning the art scene in Malang. (Put/Nov/Sil/Wil)
