University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) recommended shaping techniques for therapy for Children with Special Needs (ABK). This idea is stated in the Humanities Social Research-Student Creativity Program (PKM-RSH) which has passed the funding stage at the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dikti) last May.
Nur Elizah Feby Aldiandari as the team leader explained that this shaping technique is a therapy that is specifically given to children with special needs. This technique has the aim of reducing the aggressive behavior of students. The duration for this therapy is two hours.
Since last June, she and her teammates, Regita Meidi Septias and Nabila Marshintawati and mentored by Ahmad Sulaiman, S.Pd., M.Ed. have been doing research and it was carried out in one of the Special Schools (SLB) in the Joyogrand area, Malang City. Even though there was a Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), he and his team were still able to provide online assistance through their parents directly.
"During the research period, we were often constrained by PPKM which made us unable to provide shaping techniques directly. But we always took the initiative to provide online assistance through parents, because SLB does not accept online research," she added.
The PKM with the title "Media Shaping Technique for Percussion Instruments to Train Focus on Autism Efforts to Reduce Aggressive Behavior" has a ultimate goal is to be able to submit a journal so that it can be a reference for mutual benefit. In addition, it can also be registered with Intellectual Property Rights (HaKI). She and her team will not stop at this stage. They will try to spawn other new ideas. (haq/wil)
