Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof.Dr.Muhadjir Effendy,M.AP attended international seminar held by Master of Management and Policy Education Development (MKPP) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on Saturday (24/12) at the Auditorium UMM)
In his presentation, Muhadjir parsed about the concept of education character which would be developed in schools especially in primary schools and junior high school. Those schools were targeted strengthening education character.
In seminar under the theme “Development of A Model School Based on Mental Revolution to Achieve Character Generation”, Muhadjir stated, “For primary schools, the assessment should be based on 70% education character and 30% academic or knowledge. For junior high schools, the assessment should be based on 60% education character and 40% knowledge. According to the vision of President Joko Widodo who stated that the character should be instilled”.
Besides, the speakers of this seminars who presented about academic studies/conceptual were Prof.Dr.Mohammad Zain Musa from Royal Academy of Cambodia, Chairman of Curriculum Development of Indonesia (HIPKIN), Prof.Dr.As’ari Djohar,M.Pd, Fiest Vice Dean of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UMM, Dr.Trisakti Handayani.
There was also a presentation about the result of practical studies which were presented by the Head of Education Department of Malang, Dra.Zubaidah,MM , the Head of Education Department of Batu, Dra.Mistin, M.Pd , and the Head of Head of Secondary School Education Department of Malang, Dra.Puji Hariwati, M.Pd
Deputy Director 1of the Graduate Program UMM, Akhsanul In'am, Ph.D said "Master of Management and Policy of Education Development holds this seminar every year. This activity is not only done in Indonesia but also overseas. Last time, we have been cooperated with UNICEF and this activity will always be done and will be developed to DPPs.”
Furthermore, Akhsanul said that efforts to broaden knowledge about overseas would always be done. For the next semester, there would be supporting funds.
Rector of UMM, Fauzan, said that, among schools, families, and societies had to work together in education so the main point of education character was making design in family education.(can/han)
