The youth need digital literacy and skills, creativity and innovation, communication, and problem-solving to face the challenges of this era. It was emphasized by the Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Arie Setiadi, S.Sos., M.Si. He gave a scientific oration at the 109th Graduation Ceremony of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) last August 29.
"Nowadays, Indonesia has a productive-age population more than 191 million people, most of them are Generation Z. Simultaneously, until 2030, Indonesia is expected to demand a lot of digital talents," he said, attending the event online.

According to him, the youth must pioneer developing the digital world through innovations and ideas. Digitalization is a shift from conventional to digital and encourages changes in culture, economy, and socio-culture. In this case, it takes an active Gen Z to immerse themselves in the digitalization era in the modern era.
"We are currently facing two things, namely advantages and challenges. The advantages are the ease of accessing unlimited information to develop our interests and talents. However, there are also a number of challenges related to hoaxes and negative content," he continued.
Lastly, he entrusted the key to the digital transformation progress to Gen Z for a better future. He also quoted Franklin D. Roosevelt's words, 'We cannot build the future for the youth, but we can build the youth for the future'.

Meanwhile, The Chairperson of Aisyiyah East Java Region, Dr. Nur Mukarromah S.KM., M.Kes., expressed her high appreciation to UMM for producing excellent graduates. She is proud of the hard work of the entire academic community of the White Campus to get recognition at the national and international levels.
She also gave several messages to the graduates. Some indicators must be owned by the youth nowadays, including solid knowledge, superior skills, and good ethics. The youth must dare to take steps to make new breakthroughs to answer existing problems.
"Be a person who dares to take risks based on the calculation of mature abilities and skills. You must dare to create better innovations, and dare to make decisions. Victory belongs to those who dare to make decisions," she said.
On the other hand, the Rector of UMM, Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., said that the White Campus is a campus in Indonesia chosen by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It enables the White Campus to partner with the United Nations (UN). It is also proven by UMM's active participation in realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to him, the knowledge obtained at UMM must be used to benefit the wider community. The graduates' efforts can create a strong resonance that creates pride for their parents. (Put/Faq/Wil)
